Welcome to aye.earth - Tools to observe, test, measure and share data about the place we live.

aye.earth utilises the inbuilt features and sensors of the iPhone and iPad, such as the camera, inclinometer, magnetometer and GPS.

It intelligently combines this data to provide tools and calculators relevant to gathering and/or providing information about our reality.

You can take photos of landmarks and/or luminaries, thereby automatically recording the GPS location data of the camera together with the bearing and inclination/declination of the sighted object(s), or part(s) of object(s).

These saved observations can be categorised, filtered and notes can be optionally added. The photos and data from these observations can be shared with others to support many different collaborative purposes.

In future versions there will be the option to share your data in an iCloud open source repository, together with analysis tools that will be available to everyone.

aye.earth integrates a practical Earth Curve and Horizon Calculator that utilises the height of the observer to provide an accurate calculation of the distance to the Horizon, as well as its declination angle.

These calculations are based on GPS data and spherical geometry. Specific calculations between two locations (the observer and a target being observed) can likewise be performed.

Also included are 3 different calculations of the speed and distance travelled by the phone when given a specific starting time and date. The calculations are: 1). How far it has travelled according to the Earths revolution about its axis for your location, 2). The distance travelled around the Sun and 3). The distance travelled around the Galactic Center.

Have a look for yourself how far you have apparently travelled since you were born, or even since just yesterday. You might be surprised at the results!

This version is fully implemented in English, Welsh and German, as well as handling date and number formats for many other languages. The next version will fully support these other languages.
